About team

HOW consulting is a multinational team, comprising of two Hungarians and one Dutch guy. What binds us, regardless of geographical dispersion, is the fun in solving complex problems and the strive for excellence in doing so. The three of us have quite diverging characters, but all have an advanced sense of our own strengths and weaknesses. This really stimulates collaboration and has facilitated great results in many case competitions prior to this one.

Our main drive is self-development. We aim to get to know ourselves, gaps in our abilities and collaboration skills in order to get most out of life. This goes way beyond job related benefits, as self-knowledge and development are things we feel are required to live a meaningful life in all its aspects (work just being one of them).

In sum, we look forward to be participating in this challenge and the compete with all of our peers.

Cheers, Greg, Steve and Jasper

Title

Abstract

This presentation contains a vision for Hungary, helping it to escape the bind between the more productive West and more cost-efficient East. First, Hungary should focus its resources on a few key industries, become word class in them. Second, key industries need to change their organizational form to hyperspecialization. This involves dividing work into very specialized pieces done by several people. The result is better, faster and cheaper labor. To implement this vision, Hungary needs to build on its strengths of having a high quality and cheap labor force, high-end infrastructure and flexible labor regulations. It, however, needs to overcome its cultural cringe, bias towards SSCs, low willingness to be a specialist, brain drain and negative attitude towards delegation. However daunting, this solution will increase GDP, solve social issues and decrease environmental impact.
