Overview
Throughout the CF Summit 2012, a number of creative and engaging activities are designed by a powerful consortium of youth, business leaders, educators, and innovators:
- Keynote Speakers offer insights into the future of business, innovation, technology,and sustainable development
- Open Innovation Jams engage Summit participants in brainstorming and prototyping around the winning ideas of the Challenge:Future competitions and projects
- Out of Mind Time forces participants to go out of the normal constraints of business plans and feasibility studies and re-invent the future
- Skill Hours provide tangible, relevant, and mind-stretching workshops focusing on key leadership and innovation skills
- Think Tank Space provides a chance for every participant to connect across generational, geographical, cultural, religious, and economic boundaries and partner around common ideas
- Idea Spots feature five-minute TED-style presentations on ideas worth sharing
- In the Dark Dialogues offer spaces for deep reflective conversations connecting global challenges to personal development
- Air Time provides spaces for fun fresh-air activities and discoveries

Andreja Kodrin
Andreja Kodrin is the Founder and President of Challenge:Future global youth think tank and competition for innovation and sustainability. Andreja obtained Master's degree in 1997 and is now working on her PhD thesis focusing on strategic performance management. In the last fifteen years she has conducted several postgraduate research projects in the field of investment, performance and strategic management and has attended several executive programs at INSEAD, Harvard Business School, IMD and IEDC-Bled School of Management. She is also a frequent lecturer and speaker at universities and conferences worldwide. Prior to founding Challenge:Future, Andreja served as Group CFO and Board Director of private equity corporation AKTIVA HOLDINGS BV, the Netherlands, for eight years. She is/was a member of several supervisory boards of companies, venture funds, banks, pension funds and charities in the Netherlands, USA, UK, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Serbia, and Slovenia.
Danica Purg
Professor Danica Purg is the President of the IEDC-Bled School of Management, Slovenia, and the President of CEEMAN, the association of 200 management development institutions from 50 countries, established with the aim to enhance management development in Central and Eastern Europe. She is also leading the European Leadership Centre (ELC), established with the aim of assessing and promoting European leadership through the organization of forums, workshops and research. Prof. Purg is professor of leadership and effective management at the IEDC-Bled School of Management. Her special field of interest is looking for inspirations for managers from art and other professions. In 2010 prof. Purg received the 2010 Dean of the Year Award by the Academy of International Business (AIB) for her outstanding achievements in international business education. She authored and co-authored several books and numerous articles on leadership issues. In 2004 she edited and jointly wrote with professors Lynn Isabella, Pierre Casse, Paul Claudel and Arnold Walravens the book Leaders and Teams – The Winning Partnership. In 2010 she contributed a chapter for the Slovene edition of the book Hidden Champions by Prof. Hermann Simon. She is a frequent guest speaker at European and American universities and international conferences. Prof. Purg is Fellow of Academy of International Business (AIB), fellow of the International Academy of Management (IAM), Doctor Honoris Causa at Moscow State University of Management, Estonian Business School and MESI - Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and IT, and honorary professor at Moscow International Higher Business School (MIRBIS). President of the Republic of Slovenia awarded her with the “Honorary Order of Freedom” for her contribution to management development in Slovenia and CEE. By the American Chamber of Commerce Prof. Purg was chosen for a business leader role model of young professionals. Prof. Purg is also member of several international advisory boards of well-known business schools, member of European Cultural Parliament (ECP), a member of the Steering Committee of the UN Global Compact Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), and President of UN Global Compact Slovenia. After graduating from the Faculty of Political Science in Ljubljana, she completed her Ph.D. at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade, and extensively studied at Harvard Business School, IMD Lausanne, INSEAD Fontainebleau, Technological University Delft, London University, Sorbonne and at Kalamazoo College, Michigan.
Nadya Zhexembayeva
Nadya Zhexembayeva, PhD, is the Coca-Cola Chair of Sustainable Development at IEDC-Bled School of Management, Slovenia, where she teaches courses in leadership, organizational behavior, design thinking, and sustainability. In 2007, Dr. Zhexembayeva joined US-based Sustainable Value Partners, one of the oldest sustainability consultancies in the world. In 2008, Nadya was elected Vice-President of the United Nations Global Compact Slovenia, an association of businesses dedicated to sustainable value creation and corporate citizenship. She also serves as Vice-President of Challenge:Future, a global youth think tank and innovation competition. Nadya's first book is Embedded Sustainability: The Next Big Competitive Advantage, co-authored with Chris Laszlo and published by Stanford University Press.
Maximilian Martin
Dr. Maximilian Martin is the Founder and Managing Director of Impact Economy SA, a strategy and social finance firm that enables individuals, institutions and companies to participate fully in the current transition to the new paradigm of sustainability capitalism or “impact economy”. He also serves as Founding Faculty in Residence at AshokaU and Lecturer in Social Entrepreneurship at the University of St. Gallen. Max previously served as Founding Global Head and Managing Director of UBS Philanthropy Services, Head of Research at the Schwab Foundation, Senior Consultant with McKinsey & Company, instructor at Harvard’s Economics Department, and Fellow at the Center for Public Leadership, Harvard Kennedy School. He holds an MA in anthropology from Indiana University, a MPA from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in economic anthropology from the University of Hamburg. Max created the first university course on social entrepreneurship in Europe, the first philanthropic services and social finance department for a bank in Europe, and coined the term “impact economy”. He has authored over one hundred articles on social entrepreneurship, social business and philanthropy, corporate responsibility, impact investments, and related topics, many of which can be downloaded here. Joel A. Barker
Joel Barker is one of the best-known futurists in the world. His videos on the future have been translated into 20 languages and have been seen by more than 100 million people. His book on paradigms is a standard text in more than 100 universities and has been translated into 20 languages. He popularized the concept of paradigm shifts and started the corporate discussion of the importance of vision in 1989 with his video, “The Power of Vision.” He has influenced the role of leadership with his video, “Leadershift.” His video on “Wealth, Innovation and Diversity” helped redefine the importance of diversity. Industry Week Magazine refers to Joel Barker’s videos as one of the most influential series of programs in the business world. His last book, Five Regions of the Future, co-authored with Dr. Scott Erickson, came out in 2005. Formerly Director of the Futures Studies Department of the Science Museum of Minnesota from 1975 to 1978, he has since spoken to more than one million people in North America, Europe, Asia, South America and Australia. He has received numerous awards including two honorary doctorates. In 2006, he was named one of the 100 most distinguished educators in the past 100 years by the University of Minnesota’s College of Education. In 2008, he was identified as one of the top 100 thought leaders in personal leadership and organizational leadership by Executive Excellence Publications. In 2009, he joined the Board of Leader to Leader Institute.
Nastja Mulej
Idea Thinker at deBono.si Nastja Mulej is a renaissance person who worked as an Idea Thinker at New Moment – New Ideas Company, a network of advertising agencies in South East Europe for one decade, being a managing director of Council for New Thinking at the end. After two maternity leaves she focused only in teaching, training and inspiring creativity in others, being the only licensed trainer of de Bono thinking in the country: Six Thinking Hats and Lateral Thinking, with CoRT (Thinking for Schools) on its way, too. Slovenia is on its way to positive revolution with more and more people practicing constructive and creative, collaborative and deliberate systematic thinking.
Violeta Bulc
Violeta Bulc, founder and director of Vibacom , expert on balanced sustainable development strategies, organic growth and innovation ecosystems. She believes in the power of networks, holistic individual, and positive energy. She has received several national awards for business innovation (2004 – 2011). As entrepreneur she gets invited to different EU strategy and action groups. She is a member of management and supervisory boards of several professional associations (UN Chapter of Global Compact in Slovenia, Manager Association, Umanotera, and global “Change the game” initiative)). She is also a member of Slovenian National Council for innovative society and an honorary member of Association of Slovenian Innovators. Among her special achievements is initialization and coordination of “InCo movement” which is an civilian initiative, connecting Slovenian professional community, as well as, systematically raising the awareness on innovation among youth (www.incomovement.si). She runs blog on innovation (www.violeta.si). She is a member of the Program Advisory Board of Stanford Research Center of Innovation and Communication (http://injo.stanford.edu) at Stanford University.
