"Nothing is More Important than Teaching the World to Live in Coexistence"

by C:F Team on 23rd January, 2015 at 11:32 AM CEST

As we continue strengthening management team at Challenge:Future, we would like to announce that Stefan Alijevikj from Macedonia is joining the C:F Board and will act as the C:F VP covering community. Stefan is the first member of C:F board being selected from the youth, and we have asked him a few questions of his experience with C:F and plans for 2015.

CF Team: Stefan, you are one among the most recognized persons within C:F community with truly inclusive behaviour and authentic, persistent dedication to the idea of Challenge:Future. Could you share with us who really is Stefan Alijevikj if we would really, really know you?

Stefan: “I am someone with introvert personality traits. I “open at the close”, or in other words I can keep quiet for a long time until it is the right, or peak moment to talk. In the core of my being, I am deep observer and can easily recognize people or their intentions. As much as I avoid public speaking and dominating the conversation in some super social situation, I would have my word with you vis-à-vis. How I mostly like to perceive life on this lovely planet is through sounds, vibes, rhythm and music. This is like the fuel of my day. I have to play some good music to keep the day going. The music, the sounds, is the light that never goes out. And in fact everyone among us has their own light that never goes out.”

CF Team: You are also CF Alumnus of two Summits, you founded Chapters in Macedonia and participated in several CF competitions. Have you ever envisioned that one day you will be a member of CF Board, actually the first selected from the youth?

Stefan: “Not really. Each time I engage in something I avoid making any premonitions of what may happen next. It’s very spontaneous how I have journeyed within the Challenge:Future community so far. I have liked the idea of Challenge:Future, especially its principle of radical inclusiveness and giving the attention to everyone with their ideas. Have found it with joy to see such immense diversity of people, personalities, ideas and energy in one place, first virtually by being part of Writers Action Team, and then real-time at two C:F Summits. Have not had thought I will be one day in CF board.”

CF Team: How did your life path evolve since you have first joined C:F?

Stefan: "To go back in the momentum, I was only student back in 2011 and needed something more aside that. I was studying Literature, I really enjoyed my studies, but I wanted to add something more to life. A friend has told me for this great great web-platform Mladiinfo where I would soon get lost in the sea of available opportunities. Have started to apply to several programs and trainings, but honestly did not have much in my CV. I was denied participation everywhere. The Challenge:Future open call for Writers Action Team was the 10th call I have applied for and had already said to myself that this is it, the last thing I will apply for. And here everything started. I engaged as writer for C:F and I won a scholarship to attend CF Summit 2012 in Bled. In Bled, I also met co-founder and president of the Mladiinfo initiative, Antoaneta Ivanova. I was invited to volunteer for a period of time at Mladiinfo; after a while I got employed at Mladiinfo and today I am part of its core team. Simultaneously, I would have not known about Challenge:Future if it wasn't for the Mladiinfo platform. And would have not been Mladiinfo if it wasn't for the CF Summit."

CF Team: Last year you acted also as C:F Editor. What are the highlights from this experience for you personally?

Stefan: “The amazing part of doing the editorial for C:F in the year of 2014, was what it was community-brought to the platform. It feels amazing to work with a team laid over several continents. It also reminded me of my first days at Challenge:Future platform, where through the Action Teams we would virtually collaborate, scattered from South Africa to the Philippines through India, and would bring fresh amazing contents for the Weekly Hot Topics and the Tip of the Week. Being C:F editor brought me the same feeling. It was amazing to see how the Virtual City Challenge was brought for instance, where Chetan from India gave and elaborated the idea and Winnie from Indonesia prepared all needed visual materials and so on and so forth. This is the beauty of Challenge:Future platform, to see how a community working virtually brings real-time outputs.”

CF Team: You are now C:F Vice President, covering Community. What is your vision for its development in 2015 and could you already share with us any goals?

Stefan: "Looking at the global challenges on a planetary level, humanity feels lost in a circle of conflicts, confrontations, wars, greed and global tendency of polarization. In the age of Anthropocene, when humans are able to act as almost equally strong as a geological power of our planet, the Challenge:Future raises as the platform of unification. The Challenge:Future as already stated by Andreja also, is a living independent entity that has the most tremendous potential to nurture community who will co-exist together, who will challenge the future by shaping the present. This is the essence.

The challenge to co-exist now is maybe our final test as a civilization. And challenge:future always grabs on the most demanding challenges. At the moment, nothing is more important than teaching the world to live in co-existence, in harmony with one another, and with the planet.

Aside, since 2014 we have the Growr, a global learning community for education and career growth with peer-to-peer mentoring for real-world skills. By the end of 2015, we aim that 400 young people will come to the platform, benefit from it and boost their skills.

Finally, Challenge:Future is a community, and community stands for leading a different kind of ‘economy’, the economy of gifting among each other, gifting knowledge, kindness, inspiration, ideas. So to each CF:-er: CF is made of you personally. You are the community and you co-create it. It’s in (y)our hands how you can grow yourself personally through the community and how you can grow your ideas for a better world. This is how I envision CF."

CF Team: Last but not least, CF Founder and former President Andreja Kodrin has mentioned that being your mentee in our Growr 2014 Peer to peer initiative was amazing experience from which she benefited a lot. Now, we would like to provoke you whom among global leaders, businessmen, change makers, ...  would you like to see as your next mentee and what would you advise him/her.

Stefan: "Would not go with Angela Merkel or Barack Obama as I am afraid to fall in the trap of sounding cliche. But would definitely go for the artists, take Bjork or Banksy for instance and how influential they are worldwide. Just go through Bjork’s “Biophilia” and you will understand why"

CF Team: Dear Stefan thank you for these words and we wish you all the best on your new path!
