Iyaremye Yves is 23 years old and was born in Burera District, Northern Province of Rwanda. He did his secondary school at Petit Seminaire St Jean de Nkumba.  After completing his secondary school he did not want to only sit around waiting for other people’s help.  At his early age, he started working on his own as entrepreneur, producer, writer, director, writer, actor and movie maker in Rwanda.  Recently, Yves has started a Nursery School called St Yves Nursery School. He is also a Legal Representative of St Yves Nursery School. This school is located in Muko Sector, Musanze District. The children who are enrolled in St Yves Nursery School are from coming from a poor village called Songa and situated in the Muko Sector.

Yves today shares an inspiring story today for the CF global community. His story will tell how he decided to start the St. Yves Nursery school. The objectives set before Yves are that this school will promote quality education for the children; promote the children' parents welfare and that of the local communities around the school. In achieving this, Yves objective is to also reach to other's people help, contribution and support.

"When I was walking in Muko Sector and arrived in Songa Cell, the very first thing I noticed was that people there were facing a problem of ignorance. The local people looked like they were left behind, children aging between 3- 7 did not have an idea of going to school.  Despite the challenges they face, there is no schools in nearby where children can go.  Their parents did not also get chance to go to school at their early age. I immediately thought about doing something to fight against ignorance which is protracted in this area. I then decided to start a Nursery school at the same time planned to start a school for illiterate adults," shares Yves.

"Currently, there are 70 children going to the school. They are taught in two sections. Their teachers have high school education level and also received trainings on teaching in Nursery school. To make sure that children are healthy and able to follow their lessons, they are fed with porridge during recess.

St Yves Nursery School is playing a very big role in poverty reduction policy by providing jobs to some local community members.  It is hiring and paying 3 employees now. 2 teachers and 1 cook in charge of preparing porridge for the children.  I am still giving my own money to make sure that teachers are okay and the cook to carry on the work," adds up Yves.

The initative of Yves for sure makes an example for positive impact. And as many inititatives, the challenges are constantly here. For instance, the school itself faces problems and challenges during its daily activities. There is a big number of children who are enrolled in the school and high demand of more children who also want to to attend the school. The school have not enough rooms to afford the number of children. The school also lacks materials which can help the children study better, as well as relax when needed. The school also need for instance more toys for the children so they can play during their rest time.

"I don’t have donors/ supporters until now.  My vision is to have enough rooms for these children so that they can complete nursery school go on with Primary school then to Secondary school. To achieve my goals, I am planning that I establish a coomperation for instance with a foundation called KOISO which will help parents sustain their welfare by doing some projects such as construction of classroom, offices and other things and encourage them to do some savings. The cooperative is now renting brick quarry used in construction," says Yves.
