The flu certainly is around us now, even attacking CF team and causing some small technical problems for Challenge:Future. Fortunately, no serious harm was done. But how is with you - has the flu pandemic changed your daily life? Will such pandemics cause less traveling and change globalization? Are you scared, what about vaccinations...
Tell us your experience with the flu/vaccine or your opinions about it.
these things are bound too happen...we must not panic. the WHO is doing its best to contain the disease...all we must do is prevent the infection from spreading...and maintain cleanliness.

I have noticed that this flu have impact the events around me. Becouse some have been postponed and some canceled.
I was traveling all over Europe, and now I am safe back home. So Maybe I am lucky, maybe its just a big bubble.

I got the vaccine for free at the University of Florida campus... It was a shot in my nose, I did not feel comfortable, had some mild headaches, and coaghs, but after some hours, everythig become normal jajaja, I was a bit scared but everything is Ok.
Probably, this could cause some kind of problems worldwide...

Johanny, thanks for sharing with us. I didn't even know that it was through the nose. =)
I haven't gotten the flu.. yet. I've been exercising and sleeping on time religiously in hope that my immune system can do its job.

To be honest, I didn't see it a threat as that it was made out to be. I sure was cautious on what I did touch, but after sometimes I went back to my old-self. "outta sight outta mind".
But then do hope all affected get better and do employ people to live safe. Not affected don't mean it's not there :D

An independent research on effects of Purple Coneflower (Echinacea Purpurea, known for centuries for its curable effects ) was published in Virology Journal. Five diferent types of influenza viruses (including bird, pig, and season type) were treated with Echinacea extract and in all cases there was a 99.9% efficieny in preventing a virus to penetrate the human cell.

And the most important, viruses don't establish any kind of resistance to Echinacea extract (sold in any drug store and shops for healthy living) even after numerous of treatments. On the other hand, treatment with the farmaceuthical drugs causes viruses to develop a resistance after only third exposure to the synthetic drug. These viruses were then once again treated with Echinacea and again in 99.9% viruses were neutrilazed.
So you have a choice!

On the other hand flu is a way of comunication. In slovenia live around 2 mil people. Today died 8 victim of h1n1. I think we should be considered about older population.
Sad but true.

What I can say is that media in some countries are treating this subject irresponsibly. For instance, in Romania, the flu is presented in news bulletins as the end of the world, it's all about bombastic words and tragic cases. You can imagine that hearing this, people panic and forget all about prevention methods and the available cures or vaccines.

It is a mutation of the regular flu and as everything does viruses get smart too :D Lets just keep healthy with natural vitamins. Please do not use the medical masks they can only make your health worse. See u healthy soon :D:D:D

Panic is more contaminating than disease itself. one should not fear but fight against the disease. only proper cleanliness and precautions can break the chain. and if, unfortunately one gets in contact with flu, than also one should remain patient and take proper medicine. Flu is present in here my environment but has made me more precarious. by and large we will end this mess soon :)
3rd December, 2009 @ 10:34 PM CEST
Interesting way to pull out some drug companies out of crisis.. =D
I hate this paranoid thinking, but I really don't see reason for making a big deal out of regular flu!!
4th December, 2009 @ 12:41 AM CEST
I agree with Krste about the natural vitamins! But why not medical masks? I'm curious.

That is only scary. I see people with those mask and I feel so uncomfortable - it kind of aggrevates the fear of contracting the flu. Well it's more of psychological though and don't say people shouldn't wear them.
4th December, 2009 @ 9:55 AM CEST
but they have cute designs on those masks now to make them less scary. i think Asia is trying to make masks into a fashionable accessory like hats: http://www.jwyshop.com/p/m/m04 30.jpg
:D

I was told about a girl walking around other university of Riga with a mask of skin colour where lips were drawn. I think it should look interesting and not so scary as those white medical masks. =)

and arts saves the day again :D yeah. that's quite an approach to reduce the dread.

The flu made me think more about my immune system and use vitamins to reinforce it. That is why, i think, i feel now healthier than before=)
6th December, 2009 @ 12:46 AM CEST
Now that winter is gone in Brazil, very little is still being said about the flu. We had some consequences but now things seems stable.
6th December, 2009 @ 2:06 AM CEST
Here in China, school will even stop because of the flu. But I think this is because the terrible experience of SARS. Governments are putting far more than enough attention on this issue.
Just hope that the thing will end up soon and everyone is ok.
6th December, 2009 @ 4:30 PM CEST
I still do what I did before so no it has not influenced my life. If for every mass media hysteria I was changing my life, then I'd better live in a jar.
6th December, 2009 @ 6:18 PM CEST
I had a flu, just two weeks ago; it was truly exhausting, because the fever reached 40 degrees! I lied in my bed for 10 days and now I am still very weak. I believe that the doctors are not informed enough about the flu, they do not know how they should act. I visited 4 doctors and everybody recommended totally different medicines. I have spent an awful lot of money in the pharmacy. Moreover, in my opinion the governments shouldn't buy the vaccination, taking for it the whole responsibility.

We shouldn't panic. These things have happened, are happening and will happen in the future... We can't live in a bubble. I'm not afraid. Maybe because I don't get usual diseases so often, but I make sure that with preventive measures I don't get sick. Life in fear is worse than no life at all! I will travel, go out, socialize... I will live!
