Passionate about TEDx?

by Bistra Kumbaroska on 19th January, 2012 at 1:52 PM CEST

It has been more than a month since TEDxYouth Ljubljana event took place. Exactly two months ago. I am not counting, but i am amazed how my memories from that event are kept so fresh, and most probably will have no expiry date at all.

As great fan of TED and TEDx events, previous experiences with TEDxLjubljana as well as proud supporter of my C:F crew mate, Dan, I was ready for the event half an hour earlier. I expected nothing but a group of young people who had something to share. Ideas, life stories, innovative ideas, impact projects. Something interesting and enthusiastic, something unique and inspiring. And you know what? It was not only that.

Eleven young creative minds made the crowd laugh, think, applause, re-think, tweet good ideas, write inspiring FB posts. All speeches were in Slovenian (except Dan’s) and although I did not understand everything, I was able to see the eyes of young people who fought for ideas that probably seemed crazy from the start. I could hear the words of people who organized movements, inspired crowds, and all of them were under 30 years. From gymnasium pupils, to technology students; from journalists, to children animation group.  There was even a guy who literally showed us how he drives a car through the Internet! Guys, I am serious - a real car, not a game racing car. (all TEDxYouth Ljubljana talks available here)

Last, but not least, i would like to mention Dan’s speech on youth impact through online global collaboration. He was … well... you can see for yourself.

I know Dan for less than a year, and spending every 8 hours-per-working-day together in office has already given me the chance to see how strong his impression over an audience could be. I would agree with his introduction sentence - he really is from Romania, and he sucks blood! His speech was atypical from the very fact that it was the only one in English. Impact, impact, impact. Youth, youth, youth. Believe me, our C:F World combined with Dan’s charm, clear language, natural voice pitch and strong stage attitude, made me speechless.

So would you like to attend a TEDx Event? Or maybe you already have! Looking forward to see  your experience in comments below.
