Gate to Future Peace and Change

by Damla Aktan on 21st April, 2011 at 6:13 AM CEST

Desires, ambitions, search for power and hegemony over the rest of the world, fight for scarce resources, passion to control the “other”. On one side of the coin, this is the planned scenario. That much pain, that much aggression and that much unbelievable actions of the humanity… On the other side: Passion…Fight for Freedom… Unity…Trust…Harmony… and the Victory of the humanity… The story of the world history is full of great victories right after the bloody attacks.

See what’s going on all around the Islamic world… Iraq, Egypt, and Libya which are attacked to control the rebels by the outside powers are the best examples of the first side of the coin. No one is caring about the people inside those countries, their locally established connections and lifestyles, their feelings, their chance of living under equal conditions with the rest of the world. The big powers are only caring about bringing back the order in the world stage.

No! This shouldn’t be the rule of the game. The nations have the power to be the change they want to see in the world; without pain.We are here and the world history is the best example to show that peace is inside the nations and the populations are the sole providers of the world peace.

Look how the whole Egypt population just united and got what they want just by bringing too many people into the streets. Here is a speech that I had with my family while the first news were on TV. “Look how a nation may act collectively to realize what they want! They are all in the streets, choose to give up their comfortable daily lives and stay in the streets until they get what they want. Here is the power of united silent action”. We were in our sweet homes, having dinner and we were lucky to be together while some others, in the same world under the same sky, are outside at the same moment. That was true, that was the reflection of the wishes of a nation in order not to be under the rule of a leader they don’t want to.

Look at the foundations of the Turkish Republic. Mustafa Kemal, the initiator of the biggest change in Turkish history, and the founder and the first President of Turkish Republic, was only a young man who just believed in the change he wanted to create. He was all alone when he dreamed this change and his only strength was his passion to reach what he dreamed. He proved that , mobilizing a huge nation around a common aim with just the passion inside is not impossible. The year was 1923, 88 years ago. A bloody independence war was just over, and it was time for heretical changes in the system of a newly establishing nation. Nothing was easy but not impossible. A simple real story between Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Winston Churchill. During his official visit to Turkey, Churchill asked Mustafa Kemal: “How did you win the Independence War?” Mustafa Kemal asked his assistant to take out all the bullets from his gun. Later he asked a soldier who is waiting outside the closed door and gave the gun and told him to shoot himself. The soldier did exactly what he was told to do and Mustafa Kemal replied to Churchill: “This is how we won the Independence war”.

Trust yourself, trust others, decide to do something good for the world, feel the passion inside and share your heart with others. The gate to the future peace is inside the hearts and brains of the human, and the only thing that the leaders should do is to direct these passions not for personal ambitions but for the world peace, which is a much bigger responsibility than many of the leaders do now. The secret lies in inspiration and trust. Touching the hearts of each human in a way that you lead his dreams to change the world towards a peaceful place is the beginning of a new century in world history. And we, the Challenge Future youth are the creators of this change towards a peaceful world.Let’s open the gate and step inside! Welcome to the Future of Peace.

Now, as you see that nothing is impossible to create, for this week's hot topic discussion, how do you think you can create this consciousness of a true style of leadership for a positive change first in your country, and then the whole world?
