C:F 2010 Grand Award winners' advice

by C:F Team on 14th March, 2011 at 5:43 PM CEST

One thing we know for sure is that after the tremendous experience called Challenge:Future Competition 2011/12 there will be a winner! But how is it to be there at the top, after months of hard work and exceeding your own limits?

We had the pleasure to find out about the challenges they faced, their experience and thoughts in an Interview with C:F Grand Award Winners last summer. Now, after almost one year from the great achievement we get back to Yen Ching Liew and Chen Sin Tan, the Winners of C:F Competition 2010 to see how their life changed and what advice do they have for this year’s competitors.

1. How did you find out about C:F Competition and what made you jump in?

C:F is a motivating, inspiring and enriching competition, it's even more than a competition, we would say that it's a process. At the beginning, all we aimed for is going to Bled, and we were confident in our solutions.

The process was sometimes quite tiring too, as the time frame clashed with our final year study in university, and we nearly gave up. Lucky that we were two people in the team and the give up feelings didn't happen at the same time thus we were able to encourage each other to continue in this challenging competition. This is probably one of the luckiest things that has happened in our life.

We love the way C:F organized the competition, the way that they gather talents and how they let us develop the solutions and interact among each other, that's what made us jump in, similarly this is also the reason that made us so supportive of this competition after the event :)

2. Looking back, after one year, winning the C:F competition helped you in any way? If yes, do let us know :)

Apart from giving us unforgettable memories and leaving shining trails in our life, it makes our resume/CV look very awesome too!

3. What are your three most important gains after the C:F experience?

1. Self-improvement

2. Friends from all over the world

3. Experiences

4. How did you come up with your solution and why do you think it made it to the top?

We had this solution before the competition, this idea arose one day when we're taking metros during a peak hour and through this competition we further enhanced and developed it to make it to the top. We never thought it would make it to the top, perhaps that's just our attitude which was right for the competition.

5. You were saying you were going to use the money to either implement your idea or travel around the world. Did any happen or maybe something else?

Our solution could not be implement immediately or easily made possible with the prize money as it involved a lot of parties and a lot of studies need to be conduct before implementing it. It is not yet the best and perfect solution and we never give up refurnishing our solution after the competition. Hopefully you will see this solution solving problems all over the world when the opportunities come.

6 What is your advice for the ones who start the journey of Fun and Meaning this year?

It'll probably be a lifetime experience for you and you have no idea how much you will get through C:F competition! I guarantee that you will have no regret in this journey even though you did not make it to the grand prize, because the journey itself is already the best prize ever, and you will only understand me when you’ll complete your journey :) C:F is the best example of Fun and Meaning!

7. Anything else you'd like to share with the C:F Community?

Love everything and everyone around you, when you love them, you do the best for them. We hope that all generation Y marks a change for a new better world :)
