The planning for the first Challenge:Future Summit is in full swing. The Challenge:Future Summit will be held in Spring 2010 in Bled, Slovenia where the C:F finalists come together to compete for the grand prize, and share ideas and action plans for our common future. We have many exciting and meaningful activities in the works for the finalists as well as other esteemed guests including industry leaders, influential futurists, policy/decision makers and NGOs. One of the events that we want to emphasize is Youth Dialogue where we invite C:F members to present opinions at the final summit on a topic connected to the C:F annual theme "the Future of Connecting".
So, if you would like to speak at the Challenge:Future Summit, here is what you need to do:
Submit a paper to Challenge:Future about an issue that is crucial to the future and should be addressed today or any topic related to "the Future of Connecting". This should be an issue that you are concerned about and passionate to speak about as the purpose of the Youth Dialogue is to influence and shape our future with the voices of the youth.
- Note that your presentation at the C:F summit in Bled will be approximately 5 minutes in length, so you would need to have enough content in your paper to support your presentation.
- Also, you will need to have enough background understanding of this topic to lead the panel discussion that will take place amongst all attendees of the summit after your presentation.
- Approximately 2 or 3 papers will be selected. And the authors of the winning papers will have the chance to come to Bled (travel/flight expense covered) to speak at this by-invitation-only and unprecedented Challenge:Future Summit.
- Not sure what topics to write about? Here are some example topics we collected from our platform:
Vikram Chintalapati - Tear down the red tape
Arash Rafiq - Global Water Crisis
Fahd Masood - Garbage it
Vallabha Rao - Work redefined
Alexandra Nastase - Transforming tomorrow
Purav Aggarwal - A virtual Climate Summit
Jana Toskovic - Liquid money
Kevin Nay Yaung - Power the world
Siddharth Rajkonwar - Morality and propriety (discussion about cloning and genetically engineerd crops)
Arpan Patra - Do it
Jake Jones -Toes In The Sand
Nubi Kayode – the role of Culture in leadership
Saad Khan - Stereotyping
Challenge:Future invites the above mentioned members to further develop these great ideas into presentation papers for the C:F submit. Even if you are not on this list, you are still more than welcomed to submit your paper.
If you are interested, please submit your paper to mp@tmk-lab.eu with the email heading as: C:F Summit Presentation Paper - (your paper's title).
The due date for submission is end of March. All undergraduate and graduate level students from any accredited university, college or other educational institution born after 4 March 1979 and before 4 March 1992 are eligible to enter.

Nice! But I believe there would have been a hyper-link created out of all the challenges mentioned so that people who're coming here the first time would be able to get what it's all about.
For Example; Transforming the world, power the world and for that matter even Garbage It (:p) is vague who sees this the first time!
Just an opinion. :)

Hi Maggie, one question, can I do a little questionnaire and send it to C:F memebers and include the findings in my paper?
23rd February, 2010 @ 11:18 PM CEST
Maggie Peng | C:F staff
Questionnaire? I'm intrigued. How about you email it to me? Maybe we can make it into a Weekly Hot Topic. WHT have more exposure on the homepage as well as having a link on the personal profile page. This way members who are willing to fill out your questionnaire can come to the WHT page to participate while others have less emails to stress about. :)
24th February, 2010 @ 12:11 AM CEST
Great Idea Maggie, I´ll work on it and send it to you.
Thank you!!!

This is one great idea, dear C:F staff. It looks like introducing a mini TED Talks session with 5 minute presentations and discussion panels. It's starting to get better and better each day ;)
I'll send a couple of Smileys to cheer you up Maggie :)

Hi there... is there any requirement for the participant? E.g. must be below 30 years and a student, etc?
Maybe we can include this entry detail/requirement. Thanks!
10th March, 2010 @ 3:17 AM CEST
The eligibility requirements are the same as those for participating in the yearly C:F competition:
"All undergraduate and graduate level students from any accredited university, college or other educational institution born after 4 March 1979 and before 4 March 1992"
We mainly want this to be an opportunity for C:F members and challenge participants to join us in Bled regardless of the success of their teams in the competition. I have now also added this info to the News entry, thanks for reminding us Sayanee!
10th March, 2010 @ 8:38 AM CEST

Hi everyone!
I also want to mention that there is no format limit for your paper. Email, pdf, word doc, smoke signals.. anything works as long as I can read it.
