Challenge:Future :: Call Me in 2020

The last 10 years have redefined the ways we communicate. Cell phones, ever-expanding internet access and Facebook’s many friends have become the 'norm' of our life in the 21st century, as indispensable as toothpaste and underwear. The question is – what should the future of communication look like?

Call Me in 2020 challenges you to develop breakthrough ideas on the future of communications. What are the new features, innovations, and applications should we develop? What new uses of communications technology do you imagine? How can we use communications technologies to contribute to a better, more connected, peaceful, and prosperous life?

For the First Round of the competition, the challenge is to propose an original idea that re-invents the future of communications in a sustainable way. Acceptable ideas include:

    * A new product or service,
    * A new way of using an existing product or service,
    * A new policy or procedure, or
    * A new collaborative network, partnership or project.

Imagined as a multi-year open innovation competition, each year Challenge: Future focuses on one specific theme, a universal challenge to be re-imagined and re-invented. We are delighted to announce that the theme of the inaugural 2009-2010 academic year is the Future of Connecting.
