Challenge:Future :: Move it!

The Challenge

Cars, trains, buses and planes – can we imagine our world without them? Yet, with the world reaching the end of oil, we have no other choice but to re-design the way travel and transport. What should the new mobility look like? How do we meet the global transportation needs in a sustainable way?

How do we transition from old to new mobility? What about solutions already created – such as electric cars or hydrogen-run trains – is there global sustainable future for them? Commercial space trips – is that really the future for all of us?

For the First Round of the competition, the challenge is to propose an original idea that re-invents the future of Transportation in a sustainable way. Acceptable ideas include:

    * A new product or service,
    * A new way of logistic,
    * A new way of using an existing product or service,
    * A new way how to organize transportation (public, business, private),
    * A new policy or procedure, or
    * A new collaborative network, partnership or project.

Imagined as a multi-year open innovation competition, each year Challenge: Future focuses on one specific theme, a universal challenge to be re-imagined and re-invented. We are delighted to announce that the theme of the inaugural 2009-2010 academic year is the Future of Connecting.
